Yep, you've guessed it: let's talk about Final Fantasy VI.

No one's spoken about the greatest FF game there is? That's a shame. I guess it's up to me.
TERRA!
I can't tell you how many weird Fan Fiction stories I've read about Terra, many of them is the supposed grouping of her and King Edgar. It was made quite clear in the game that Edgar would never be her first choice, nor would any of the male protagonists save the outside chance of Setzer giving up on Maria (since he can't get Celes from Locke, obviously) and turning to her. He seemed the least weirded out about her Esper heritage anyway, but truth be told, she would never be satisfied with that, she was looking for something much more than that sort of relationship.
Here's my theory. I came up with this a while ago, cuz if you can't tell by now, I'm a writer. The world of the espers is constant in FF, even if the world itself isn't. It's shifting forms all the time, becoming Spira, Vana'diel, Ivalice etc. in each incarnation, but what doesn't seem to change is the world of illusion, the land of the espers, the farplane, whatever you want to call it, it's likely the same place since the same kind of beings are popping out of it. Terra is completely unique in FF in that she is decended from a human and an esper, a dual heritage in both worlds. She's going to continue existing as an Esper as her fellows from FFVI disappear. Her true love is either an esper, sharing the same state of existance with her, or someone beyond the world of hate and Magicite manipulation she was stolen into by Emperor Gehstal.
I'm working on a book, which will be quite an epic undertaking when I finally decide to turn to it full time, and a piece of it will include Terra, as an esper, seeking what she could never find in human life. Unlike the triumphant, if uncertain ending of FFVI, Terra WILL find what she's looking for. She of them all deserves it.

Interesting stuff. I haven't actually played FFVI (I haven't played most FF games to be honest...) but I've heard that it's one of the better ones. I'd definitely be interested to hear more!
